Easter morning dawns with my husband softly saying - "We have to be out of here in 1/2 hour" YIKES, and the sudden realization that I forgot to sent the alarm and the "Sunrise" service starts in 1/2 hour (and I go NO WHERE without a shower - hair and makeup).
Easter sunrise service at our church is somewhat a let-down, occuring a full hour after sunrise and a somewhat disorganized service, not to mention the fact that I FORGOT to take an antihistamine - and am standing sniffling in a church full of lilies.
Home to our traditional deviled eggs and english muffins, and more hurried cleaning and preparing for company dinner - we dash (a few minutes late) off to 10:30 service which is far more fulfilling and better now that I took a Claritin
I am blessed with the opportunity to sing my favorite Easter Hymn - "Christ The Lord is Risen Today" not once but THREE times (two services) and yet the Hymn today that takes me by suprise and to sudden tears is "Because He Lives" - "the sweet assurance, this child can face uncertain days, because He lives..." lost it, right there, don't ask me why but it did. - and I held my daughter's hand for the remainder of the Hymn.
Home to stress a bit over the timing of the Ham and Au Gratin potatoes, and last minute cleaning .... finished JUST in time and was fixing my first (of the day AND of the season) White Peach Sangria, when company arrived.
We were blessed with a wonderful meal - many hands contributing - a call from the Tennessee sister ("Happy Easter" - "Happy Birthday - tommorrow" - Happy Wedding - last week" and blessings abound!).
and all too soon it is over, and everyone wants to go home early - and that's sad, but now the house is clean, the dishes are washed and put away. Michael, Jess and I tookt the golf cart for a ride, and to my suprise and ABUNDANCE of Trout Lilies are blooming in the woods and near the stream! (of course, did not count on the dog eating half of the left-over cheesecake while we took our time enjoying the evening ride).
But now we are done, I have changed into sweats, my feet hurt and I will sit on the couch and watch that recording of "The Robe" to finish my Wonderful Easter Celebration.
God is so Good!
