      troubling

I found out today that a former co-worker of mine has stage 4 cancer. I knew she was going for surgery, they did not know the extent. She has been in my prayers, but I have not spoken with her since about 5 months ago. I mean to call her, you know, how you do with friends and yet you never get the time...
Two weeks ago, when I found out they suspected cancer and that she was facing surgery I bought a card ... I just have not gotten around to mailing it ... yet.
So now? What do I do. I'll write the card, send it off, and call her in several days when I think she'll want to talk.
Dear God, I'm running out of fingers to count the friends who are fighting Cancer ... I want my fingers back ... I want my friends, and the time to be in touch with them, and laugh, and live and watch the sun rise ... and set ... and rise ...

To be outspoken when truth is under attack, when charity is being bruised, or when important issues of life are at stake is a good and courageous thing. To be outspoken when nothing is at stake except the feelings of someone else is a small and contemptible thing. ~ Lawrence G. Lovasik (The Hidden Power of Kindness)
