      Take my Breath away!

Yesterday, something so very exciting happened to me ... it literally took my breath away.

No, it had nothing to do with my husband, or any other person for that matter (sorry for the lack of "juice" on my post).
I was on my way to work, taking a different route, when I saw an immature Bald Eagle, not 30 feet from the road. He was sitting atop a dead tree stump (about 11 feet high) over a swamp with a stream running through it.
I can't tell you how I wished for a camera ... even a camera phone... anything that could help me to show you the breathtaking magnificence of this bird.
      So ... I stole a couple of photos on-line:

He was easily 2 1/2 feet high.

Mottled brown, with a large Yellow beak.
His head and chest were dark brown, but his belly was mottled with white, in fact looked quite light.
I drove past, and was startled by the site of such a large brown "hawk" ... so large in fact, that I turned the car around and went back. Actually, my thought upon seeing him for the second time was "Could this possibly be a Golden Eagle?" - silly me, I know. Anyway, I pulled the car over, directly across the road from him, and sat for 10-15 minutes just watching him (and calling several bird-loving folks I know on my cell).
And just in case you think I am the only geek in the world ... a white pickup truck with two guys in it also turned around, pulled over and observed this beautiful creature for 10 minutes. Afterwards when he flew away (watching him lift off from that stump, stretching out his massive wings and then forcing them down in seeming slow-motion could have been the actual point where I lost my breath), we spoke for a few minutes, and let me tell you, they were just as excited as I was.

To be outspoken when truth is under attack, when charity is being bruised, or when important issues of life are at stake is a good and courageous thing. To be outspoken when nothing is at stake except the feelings of someone else is a small and contemptible thing. ~ Lawrence G. Lovasik (The Hidden Power of Kindness)
