      My 100 Things

      100 THINGS

      1. I am a wife.
      2. I am a mother.
      3. I am a Christian.
      4. I am 40-something
      5. I color my hair (gasp, yes I do)– and I will until I choose to stop!!!
      6. When I was an adolescent I was always too tall, and my feet were too big
      7. I have gotten over the too tall, and the feet (although they are still size 9 ½ )
      8. My front teeth are too big
      9. I have a perfect nose (was told that by a plastic surgeon – no, it’s my real nose)
      10. I was married at 19 (big mistake)
      11. I was divorced at 23 (no regrets, we learn and grow from our mistakes)
      12. I married the love-of-my-life at 34
      13. I was a step-mother (step-dame) before I was a mother.
      14. My step-daughters are two of my best friends
      15. I have one child – a daughter
      16. She has made my life worthwhile – I now have a reason for it all
      17. I am terrified that I am not capable of being a good mother
      18. My husband has three children – three daughters – (he is a very good father)
      19. I have four grandchildren (well, step-grandchildren, but it feels the same to me)
      20. I am a full-time-working-mother
      21. I constantly struggle with “am I doing the right thing for my daughter?”
      22. I am happily married – I love my husband!
      23. I travel one hour to get to work
      24. I listen to audio-books on my commute (so I “do” a lot of books)
      25. My husband says I never sit and “relax”
      26. I am incapable if sitting in front of the TV and doing nothing else
      27. I don’t like to watch TV
      28. However, when I do – Sopranos, Everwood, Raymond
      29. I am a bird-watcher (or “birder” as I call it)
      30. If I ever do relax it is watching the birds outside my kitchen window
      31. The above is done while washing the dishes (and talking on the phone)
      32. I love to vacation in Shennendoah Natl. Park where I could watch the deer all day
      33. I can (and do) watch deer any day or evening outside my own kitchen window
      34. My daughter does not play soccer (or any team sport)!
      35. therefore I am not a soccer mom!!! (yay!)
      36. although, I do have two Christmas-themed cardigan sweaters
      37. I do not drive a mini-van
      38. I drive a Taurus wagon (same?)
      39. But I still am not a soccer mom
      40. I go to curves 3 X a week to work out (OK, at least twice a week)
      41. I have a Nordic Track in my basement that I actually still use occasionally
      42. I grew up in the 60’s / 70’s
      43. Yes, I wore granny glasses, headbands, peace signs, beads and bell-bottom jeans that dragged on the ground.
      44. I actually never did drugs of any kind – just watched my friends get high
      45. I have more than once seen a doctor about stress
      46. I think now that drugs would do me some good
      47. I am at times “psycho-stress-mom-from-hell” (just ask my daughter)

      61. You can tell my mom anything you’d like about me – she knows it all already
      62. If you tell my mom anything – she will repeat it to one or both of my sisters
      63. I am not good at keeping secrets (where do you think I get this from?)
      64. The older I get, the more I become my mother (don’t we all?)
      65. I don’t want my daughter to become me - (gasp – she is often distracted and scattered)
      66. I am not a good listener – I keep trying

To be outspoken when truth is under attack, when charity is being bruised, or when important issues of life are at stake is a good and courageous thing. To be outspoken when nothing is at stake except the feelings of someone else is a small and contemptible thing. ~ Lawrence G. Lovasik (The Hidden Power of Kindness)
