      Here we go again!

I am apparently not the only one here with an ailment today. my Brandy
      has:

Doctor Unheimlich has diagnosed me with
      Brandyosis
      Cause:lack of fresh air
      Symptoms:sweating, extreme hypochondria, fangs
      Cure:drink more absinthe
Enter your name, for your own diagnosis:

well, OK, no..., but she does have another Urinary Tract Infection.
Now, if you have ever had one of these, you know how unpleasant it is. Now imagine you are canine, and a young one at that, and you are trying to tell the crazy woman who runs this house that you have to go out, and the crazy woman just looks at you repeatedly saying "You just went out". You don't want to pee on the floor, you really don't want to ... but then she's on the phone, and you are looking at her with your eyes very liquidy .... and she says "OK, sweety, I'll take you out as soon as I'm off the phone" ... but then the child calls her from upstairs ... and up she goes and well ... you just can't wait any longer!

Yep - that's about how it went down. She came slinking up the stairs to cower at my feet, and wouldn't come back into the kitchen with me - that's when I figured out ...duh... that this big yellow puddle in the middle of the kitchen floor may mean that she has a problem!
She never has accidents in the house anymore, so since we have been through the UTI thing before, and I was noticing some frequency last night and this morning, I took a sample, checked it with a test strip, and sure enough, red blood cells, white blood cells, nitrites and protein (not to mention some visible blood in her urine). So with an hour to spare before I must run out the door to work, we fun out the door to the vet ...
She's back on medication, since I vetoed the bladder puncture procedure (to get a sterile specimen). That will be the second option, if the medication does not work. For now we're keeping our fingers crossed ... and running her out the door as frequently as possible.

To be outspoken when truth is under attack, when charity is being bruised, or when important issues of life are at stake is a good and courageous thing. To be outspoken when nothing is at stake except the feelings of someone else is a small and contemptible thing. ~ Lawrence G. Lovasik (The Hidden Power of Kindness)
